Installing a charging station at every employee's home: is it really a good idea?
On paper, giving every employee a charging station seems logical. In practice, it means one project per home, with just as many obstacles:
- Cost: around CHF 3'000 for hardware and installation per home in the best case, multiplied by your fleet.
- Lead times: quotes, appointments, works. Weeks, sometimes months, before everyone is equipped.
- Condominiums: a vote at the owners' meeting, a double majority, a technical study. Roll-out drags on as soon as an employee lives in an apartment building.
- Tenants: an employee who rents cannot have a charging station installed without the landlord's written consent.
- Maintenance: one charging station per home means a whole estate of equipment to maintain, repair and replace.
- Diversity of situations: house, apartment, shared car park, T23 or CEE socket already in place. A new charging station is not always useful.
- Tax and mobility: a charging station provided by the employer that becomes the employee's property is generally a taxable benefit, to be declared on the salary certificate (Lohnausweis). And if the employee moves or leaves the company, the charging station becomes a headache.
The real question is not which charging station to install, but how to reimburse charging fairly, whatever the employee's installation.

Your questions about equipping employees
No, and that is the whole point of Voltaback. Your employees charge on their existing installation (socket, T23 or CEE socket, charging station) and you reimburse the electricity actually consumed. No hardware to roll out or maintain.
Voltaback measures the energy from the vehicle data and the employee's electricity tariff (imported from a bill). No smart charging station or box needed: the calculation is done in software.
Often not: the flat rate is capped at CHF 60 a month (item 13.2.3 of the salary certificate) and, above that, it becomes salary. Voltaback reimburses at real cost, with compliant documentation generated every month, whatever the mileage.
Yes, in every case. The solution does not depend on any particular installation: without a smart meter, in an apartment, in a shared car park or in rented housing, as soon as the employee charges at home, charging is measured and reimbursed.
