Is installing a charger at every employee's home really a good idea?
On paper, giving every employee a charger seems logical. In practice, it is a project per employee, with just as many obstacles:
- Cost: €1,000 to €2,000 of hardware and installation per home, multiplied by your fleet.
- Lead times: quotes, appointments, works. Weeks, sometimes months before everyone is equipped.
- Co-owned buildings: general meeting vote, technical study, grid operator request. Roll-out drags on as soon as an employee lives in a shared building.
- Tenants: an employee who rents cannot have a charger installed without the landlord's consent.
- Maintenance: one charger per home means a whole estate to maintain, repair and replace.
- Diversity of homes: house, flat, shared car park, dedicated socket already in place, home across the border. A new charger is not always useful.
- Mobility: an employee moves house or leaves the company, and the installed charger becomes a headache.
The real question is not which charger to install, but how to reimburse charging fairly, whatever the employee's installation.
The alternative: reimburse the charging, not the hardware
Voltaback is a 100 % software solution. Your employees charge on the installation they already have (socket, dedicated socket or charger), in Luxembourg or in their country of residence, and you reimburse them at the real cost of the electricity used. Nothing to install, nothing to maintain. In 3 steps:
- The employee connects their vehicle in a few minutes in the app, all brands, no hardware.
- They upload an electricity bill to record their real tariff (night tariff, dynamic tariff, fixed price), whatever their country of residence.
- The record is generated automatically every month: energy measured, tariff applied, amount to reimburse. No data entry at all.
You equip your whole fleet in a few days, without a single installation project.

FAQ
Your questions about equipping employees
No, and that is the whole point of Voltaback. Your employees charge on their existing installation (socket, dedicated socket or charger) and you reimburse the electricity actually used. No hardware to roll out or maintain.
Voltaback measures the energy from the vehicle's data and the employee's electricity tariff (uploaded via a bill). No need for a connected charger or a box: the calculation is done in software.
There is no official flat rate per kWh in Luxembourg. A flat rate that does not match the real costs, or exceeds them, is treated as taxable salary. Voltaback reimburses at measured real cost, with a record per vehicle generated every month: you remove that risk.
Yes, in every case. The solution does not depend on any particular installation: without a smart meter, in a flat, in a shared car park, in rented housing or across the border, as soon as the employee charges at home, the charging is measured and reimbursed at the price of their contract.
A few days. Bulk import of employees and automated reimbursements avoid the home-by-home project of a charger installation.
Every charging session is linked to an identified vehicle and measured at real values: it is impossible to get reimbursed for charging that is not your own. The monthly record is ready to show in an audit.
